The function of the Hub is to use the incredible facilities and expertise in Southampton and Sheffield to de-risk ideas and show how new technologies can be made reproducibly, reliably and cheaply.

Photonics has the power to transform the existing capabilities of electronics-based materials and devices, to create better, or even brand-new technologies that haven’t been thought of before.

The Future Photonics Hub focuses on the manufacturability of these technologies. We find our expertise in photonics redefines what’s possible and this is something that’s highly valuable to our industrial partners.
